UC launches medical plans satisfaction survey May 4

Dear UC ANR Colleagues,

UC is launching its annual medical plans satisfaction survey to learn more about what faculty, academics, and staff employees think about the University of California's medical plans.

Feedback from the survey helps UC Systemwide Human Resources plan for and shape future benefits offerings.

This year more than 32,000 randomly selected faculty, academic, staff, retirees and their spouses/domestic partners will be invited to complete the survey. DSS Research is conducting the survey on behalf of the university.

Beginning May 4, this randomly selected group will receive an email at their work email address from University of California Human Resources (surveyreply@dsslive.com) with a link to the survey. The email is not spam. Those without a work email address will receive a paper survey via US Mail.

I encourage you to complete the survey, if you should receive it. It is an opportunity to give direct feedback to UC about your medical plan.

The survey is completely confidential. Individual responses to the survey and personally identifying information will not be shared with UC.

Should you have questions about the survey, please contact DSS Research at 1-888-797-3605, ext. 4190.

Thank you,

Linda Marie Manton

ANR not participating in Phased Retirement Program

You may have seen an announcement from UCOP regarding the implementation of the UC Phased Retirement Program for January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2019. The intent of the Phased Retirement Program is to help eligible employees who are 55 years or older transition into retirement and allow for longer-term planning for employees, their families and the unit they work in.

ANR has decided that it will not offer the program in 2015 to avoid adding to the workload of our already thin workforce. One of the primary guidelines in the program prohibits the department from adding capacity to offset a participating employee's reduction in time.

Human Resources—Staff Personnel Unit

UCOP conducts survey regarding disability status

As a result of recent changes to federal regulations, all federal government contractors are now required to regularly survey employees regarding their disability status. The regulatory change is intended to address a substantial lag in the employment rate of individuals with disabilities that persists despite technological advancements that have made it possible for people with disabilities to apply for and successfully perform a broad array of jobs.

All University of California employees will soon receive an email asking them to complete a brief, voluntary survey about their disability status. You may have already received the email because some were sent last week.

UC has hired VR Election Service (VRES) to administer the survey. The email will come from the following address: UC_Disability_Survey@vres.us. The email will also include a unique PIN that VRES has assigned to each employee. To respond to the survey, you must enter the PIN and the month and date of your birth to authenticate your identity.  UC will use the collected data to assess employment practices and recruitment efforts. The collected information will remain confidential.

ANR's Affirmative Action website has additional information. If you wish to review a sample copy of the email request you will receive, you may go to http://ucanr.edu/sites/anrstaff/Diversity/Affirmative_Action. The information is listed under Disability Survey.

I appreciate you completing the survey. If you have any questions, please contact me at lmmanton@ucanr.edu

Thank you,

Linda Marie Manton
